Shut out scratches on the spool edge that cause a reduced flight distance and line break. Of course, if you inadvertently hit the reel against something or drop it, no matter how careful you are, you may get scratches without knowing it. Measures are easy. Just by installing the EG spool edge guard, you can prevent problems with the spinning reel.
